Obamas celebrate 17th wedding anniversary

WASHINGTON, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary with dinner at the Blueduck Tavern in Washington, authorities said.

Some passersby cheered as the president, dressed in a dark suit, and first lady, wearing a black dress, emerged from the restaurant near Georgetown after a Saturday evening meal that lasted about an hour and a half, the White House Pool report said.

The president acknowledged bystanders with a wave as several passing city firefighters strained for a look amid a flash of cameras and people leaning over apartment balconies for a glimpse of the couple, married Oct. 3, 1992

Compared to the photos of this couple I posted a few weeks ago, these two look STRESSED OUT. Apparently they got criticized for going out while things are bad in Afganistan (even on their anniversary, to a fairly modest tavern, by DC standards...).

hang tough, Michelle and Barack.
